Rotten Swaps Symbols for Clowns and Wilds on SwitchSpins

Rotten sets a zombie outbreak in a fairground and gives the player a lever to pull. The lever is the Switch symbol. When one lands on Hacksaw Gaming's 6x5 grid it awards between 1 and 10 SwitchSpins, respins in which selected symbols are replaced by something better.

Better means one of two things: the clown at the top of the paytable, or wilds.

How a Switch Rewrites the Reels

The game pays on 35 lines, for three to six matching symbols starting from the first reel. Six clowns pay 40x the bet and six wilds pay 50x, so a respin in which a common card rank has been swapped for either of them changes the value of the whole screen at once.

It builds, too. Another Switch symbol landing during the respins adds more selected symbols and more respins, so a set that started with one swap can end with several ranks all showing as clowns or wilds.

Mad Scientist and the Total Takeover

Three Mad Scientist scatters award 10 free spins in which Switch symbols land more often.

Total Takeover is the bigger round. Three of its own scatters, in the base game or during Mad Scientist, award 10 free spins with the same higher chance of Switch symbols, and one rule changed in your favour: the replaced symbols carry over from one set of SwitchSpins to the next. Every new Switch adds to a list that is already working, and the grid drifts toward a screen of top symbols and wilds as the round goes on. Three scatters inside the round add 4 spins.

The Rotten slot returns 96.27% and is highly volatile. It takes bets from 0.10 to 100, with wins up to 10,000x, and was released in 2022.

The creatures have a curious film history. George Romero's Night of the Living Dead set the template for the modern zombie in 1968, yet its script calls them ghouls, and the name everyone now uses was attached by audiences afterwards.
